chinese new year.

tonight is one of my favorite nights in china.

it's a night of sensory overload!

the smell of sulfur oozing through your windows because, hello!! 1.3 billion people are lighting fireworks all over this country.

the food!  tonight we made fried rice and homemade egg rolls. and finished it with fortune cookies. it was way better than chinese take-out in america.

the fireworks are amazingly.  breathtakingly.  beautiful! think 4th of july times a billion!  really.

and the noise! our boys' room has an air purifier running loudly.  a fan whirring.  loud lullabies playing and the three boys surprisingly sleeping.  

chinese new year is my favorite.  and so is strong coffee the next morning!
