timeline [so far]
The common question people ask is, "So what is the timeline?" Me, "I don't know. A year, two years."
That's pretty vague. It is hard to really know. I do know this; we ordered our marriage and birth certificates so we have 6 months before those become expired. The MC and BC are two documents part of the large Dossier that gets sent and approved by the local governments. The MC and BC are no longer valid after 6 months from the date they where produced. While the paper chase timeline is largely based on how fast we do our part, we now have reason to keep it moving in a timely manner.
The timeline so far:
December 2, sent the initial application to the agency.
December 19, our application was approved by the agency, received 7 documents, multiple pages each to sign. This included a bio of who we are. Not just who we are today, but who we were as toddlers and in our growing up years.
February 24, finally completed all the documents, and sent them back. Between Christmas and starting up a new semester at work, it was a slow process to get these done.
March 24, called the agency wondering if our paperwork had been approved. Some things got lost through email, so we are thankful we finally called.
March 25, received all the info regarding the Dossier process, the paper chase.
We have had the week off for spring break, which has been great for gaining momentum with the paper chase. [Thanks to my awesome wife.] We have ordered our birth and marriage certificates, thanks to the help of family in the states who went to the local offices for these and will mail them off. A friend came and watched our kids so we could spend a few hours at a coffee shop working through documents.
I am thankful for the family and friends who have been encouraging us. We need you in this and value your encouragement, prayers and support.
