righteousness and cookies

Chinese is one of the world's most ancient cultures and it's writing is one of the world's oldest.  It is fascinating to study the Chinese characters and hear the stories they tell.  Here is one character, Righteous, and the story it tells.  It is clear that He is making himself known not only through creation but also through the written language.

The character for Righteous is made up of two other characters;

Lamb: 羊

Me: 我

you put these two together and you get

Righteous: 義

The Lamb over Me = Righteous.

Jesus is called the "Lamb of God."  This symbol points to Jesus as being the perfect sacrifice for sin.  It also conveys his meekness and willingness to submit to suffering and death.  

(Is. 53:7, John 1:29)

Through Christ we are declared righteous.  

"For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin,

so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."

2 Cor. 5:21

"'Abraham was declared fit before God by trusting God to set him right.'
But it is not just Abraham; it is also us!
The same thing gets said about us
when we embrace and believe the One who brought Jesus to life
when the conditions were equally hopeless.
The sacrificed Jesus made us fit for God, 
set us right with God."  Msg, Ro 4:22-25

My sin has seperated me from God
I need His righteousness (Rom. 3:23).
 Through the blood of the Lamb I am bought back, given new life, made alive.
This is something to Celebrate!

"But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,
made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions-
it is by grace you have been saved." Eph. 3:4-5

"And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile
and you are still in your sins...
But in fact Christ HAS BEEN RAISED from the dead...
For as by a man came death
(from Adam we all inherited Sin, Spiritual Death, separation from God)
by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead.
For as in Adam all die,
so also in Christ shall all be MADE ALIVE."
1 Cor 15:17-22
