this is not my home.

so i've been on a little blogging fast.  not really.  we've just been having so much great
family time, i forgot to blog.  chad was off of work all last week.
it was such a treat.  he went back to work yesterday, but with no students.
the school is moving to a different campus on the other side of the city.
so this week they are boxing up stuff.
next week it gets moved.
the next week they unpack.
and then they get the last week of january off for chinese new year.

in the past couple weeks we have...

watched lots of movies.
stayed up way late, like before we had kids.
spent lots of time with friends.
baked tons.
made a wonderful swedish meatball christmas meal!
celebrated christmas.
watched little man grow so much! {more independent, more thankful, more generous, more talkative each day!}
went to beijing for a baby check up. {found out there is a law against finding out the sex of the baby!  boo.}
went for coffee.
went potty and poopy on the toilet.
{little man did.  lots.  even told us before.}
blew out candles on Jesus' birthday cake.
ordered mcdonald's delivery for lunch on christmas day {there were just too many dishes to tackle.}
skyped a whole lot.
played with all of little man's new toys!

{frosting the birthday cake.  in his big boy undies!}

we had a wonderful break.  but i got to say, it was so different.
many things were the same.  but too much was different.
i had to leave fellowship early on christmas day and just wait for chad and little man downstairs because i was a crying mess.  {it didn't help that i had pregnancy hormones running!}  i just couldn't keep it together.

i miss home.
wait.
this is home.  wherever the three of us are is home.
wait.
america is not my home.
tianjin is not my home.

i am reminded of this often while living here.  it's not easy some days.
and i don't want to miss what the Father has for me here.

but when it's not easy. and when it is, i remind myself.
this is not my home.

my home is in heaven.

"but there's far more to life for us.  we're citizens of high heaven!  we're waiting the arrival of the Savior, the Master, Jesus Christ, who will transform our earthy bodies into glorious bodies like His own.  He'll make us beautiful and whole with the same powerful skill by which He is putting everything as it should be, under and around Him."
philippians 3.20,21  {the message}
