just another reason why we don't celebrate.

today is october 31st in china.  halloween.  lots of people "celebrate" this holiday.

we don't.  

i should warn you.  you might get your panties all in a bunch if you super love halloween and take offense easily.  if so.

STOP reading now.

this post isn't to try and convince you not to "celebrate". 

just our thoughts and what we feel our family's involvement should be as His children.  ok?  ok.

there are lots of reasons i don't like the holiday.  and here they are, in no certain order.

it's dark.

i hate the colors orange and black.

i think halloween decorations are super tacky {kind of like santa, but i'll talk about that later}

my bag of candy growing up always disappeared quickly {mom?  did you eat it?}

i don't like things in costumes {i had a hard time in disney world, i tell ya what!}

games in elementary, where you had to touch spaghetti noodles and peeled grapes made me want to puke.  what were they intestines and eye balls?


ok. seriously now.
when we were in the states we took advantage of neighbors knocking on our door.
i mean, how many times a year do your neighbors knock on your door?
it was a perfect opportunity to shine His light to the community around us
and hand them truth with a treat.

i hope you are still reading, because i think this next part is interesting.

only emphasizes more why we don't celebrate.

here they call halloween "mo gui jie"  which means "the devil's holiday".

this is an american tradition that local fellowships outrightly reject.

"gui jie" is the day unbelieving families gather to offer sacrifices to their dead loved ones, ancestors, etc, whom they believe have become "holy" like gods once they die.

they burn incense, offer food on their altars, play their chants and spend vigil as part of the holiday.

they do this in varying degrees.

ok.  i might be type 1 diabetic. but.  i love the free candy.
so if you want to put some reese's peanut butter cups in the mail.
i am fine with that.
