squirrels, hedgehogs and snails

today we made graham crackers.

they are so good.  and if you live in a country where you can't find {or they are outrageously expensive} graham crackers, they are really good!  and if you live in the states, they are nice to make because they don't have all the extra stuff in them.

here's the recipe.

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup packed dark-brown sugar
3 tablespoons toasted wheat germ
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup cold butter, cut up
1/4 cup honey
 2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
granulated sugar

1} heat oven to 350 degrees.  in a large food processor {or like me, just put it in a bowl and stir} mix flour, brown sugar, wheat germ, baking soda, salt and cinnamon.  process {stir} until combined.  add butter {or use a pastry blender thing or a fork}.  process {combine}.  add honey, milk and vanilla.  process {stir} until it holds together.

2}  on a floured surface roll out dough and cut into any shape you want {you could cut them into squares and punch letters of the alphabet into them with a fork}.  put on ungreased cookie sheet.  sprinkle with sugar.

3}  bake about 8 minutes.  transfer to wire racks.  let cool.
